Training Centers
We firmly believe that qualifying our workforce is good business sense for OSRAM, and at the same time benefits our employees as individuals. In addition to regular training and development, OSRAM has gone beyond the norm and established dedicated vocational training centers at several of our production sites. Based on the German ‘dual education’ system, which is internationally acclaimed, students attend classes at a local school and at the same time enjoy hands-on training in workshops at the factory. We thus have the qualified workforce absolutely necessary for our company, and help society by training its members.
Smolensk, Russia
Our newest training center was established at our production site in Smolensk, Russia. In cooperation with a local school, OSRAM is training up to 20 students per year in a two year course. The future graduates of the program will be qualified as machine setters, the foundation for a technical career with us. On its side of the bargain, OSRAM gets employees extensively trained with our advanced production technology, with a firm bond to the company.
Sonepat, India
A perfect example of a training center can be found in Sonepat, India. Established 2001, the center has trained over 400 people so far. Over 170 took part in a full apprenticeship program over two years. The qualified workforce that these graduates represent was an additional reason for the establishment of our second production site in India in close proximity to Sonepat.
