Directive on the Eco-Design of Energy-Using Products

EuP; 2005/32/EC

This directive creates a framework for defining requirements relating to the eco-friendly design of energy-using products. The objective is to prevent poor inefficient products from reaching the European market. Implementing measures define the concrete requirements for the relevant products through a holistic product assessment (life cycle approach) and are safeguarded by the conformity declaration through CE labeling. The schedule is for the directive to be incorporated in national law in the third quarter of 2007. Initial requirements for certain product groups can be expected by the end of 2007.
