O-LAMP™ and O-BOX™ - Products for Off-Grid Lighting

Luminaires for off-grid lighting have been around some time – just think of the battery powered lantern you use for camping. The novelty of the approach is that OSRAM off-grid products are part of an integrated system. The products are designed to be charged in OSRAM O-HUBs. To begin with, the following products will be the mainstay of the off-grid solution:

O-LAMP™ 2 in 1

A robust lantern-type luminaire with an integrated rechargeable battery. There are two possible lighting levels: A 7 Watt compact fluorescent lamp, producing about 400 lumens for approximately 8 hours. A second setting activates LEDs, which will burn considerably longer and still provide enough light to read a book by or for orientation in the dark of night.

O-LAMP™ Basic

A luminaire using a DULUX EL SOLAR 12V DC 11 W. It provides enough light to light an entire room - 600 lumen. With the screw-on cover, it is water and dust resistant. Powered by the O-BOX, this luminaire is also intended for night fishing on Lake Victoria.

O-BOX™

For applications needing more energy, OSRAM offers the O-BOX. A rechargeable battery and reliable electronic components to control charging are encased in a sturdy container, and a carrying handle makes it easy to transport. One O-BOX is rated with 100 Wh, and it will power a 11 W O-LAMP Basic for over 8 hours. It is also possible to use the energy to run a portable radio or recharge a compatible mobile phone.

LED SOLAR I

In addition to the products for the O-HUB system, OSRAM also offers products which can be used both in off-grid areas in developing countries and in the growing market of outdoor products. A perfect example is the OSRAM LED SOLAR I - with a GOLDEN DRAGON® LED, the luminaire provides light for up to 7 hours in the normal-mode, and up to 30 hours when dimmed to 25%. Delivered complete with a small solar panel and adapters for charging several types of mobile phones, it is a great all-in-one solution.
