Lighting art in Munich – „Moving Lines“
On June 17, 2008 the lighting installation “Moving Lines” by the artist Reinhold Föst from Augsburg was uncovered symbolically in front of the Fraunhofer building, Munich. A total of 81 stainless steel tubes arranged in an orthogonal raster typify the Fraunhofer company as a whole, but also reflect the independence and uniqueness of the individual Fraunhofer companies. It stands for innovation, movement, progress and creativity – for community and individuality.
"Moving Lines"
The material and shape of the object should be in line with the design of the building. With "Moving Lines" the artist Reinhold Föst from Augsburg created an installation, consisting of 81 stainless steel tubes, which portrays this interaction as a movable ensemble.
"In a transferred sense "Moving Lines" stands for a seismograph, which reacts very sensible, just as the Fraunhofer company, on the developments and changes of our times" Reinhold Föst commented on the lighting installation.
Lighting Design
An innovative lighting design, implemented by OSRAM Lighting Services, enhanced this impression. 20 tubes of the lighting installation are fitted with 5,000 RGB LEDs. The light diodes flood the artwork from the inside of the tubes with imaginary light, the light source is invisible for the observer.
There is also a scientific connection between OSRAM and Fraunhofer Gesellschaft: in recent years a joint research team developed high-performance LEDs and in 2007 they were awarded by the “Zukunftspreis“ of German President Horst Köhler.
After dusk sets in, the tubes turn into dynamic pillars with changing colors.
