New package solution for LED light:
Bright and flexible
Creative lighting solutions with light emitting diodes are all the rage. Particularly now that modules are available with high-power LEDs and special optics, combined with perfectly matched control gear. Osram will be presenting a new series at Light + Building 2004.
Rapid increases in the luminous efficacy of semiconductor light sources have opened up more and more applications for light emitting diodes. LED modules are now entering the world of general lighting thanks to the high luminous flux values they can now achieve. The new modules with high-flux LEDs produce 25 lm in the important colour of white at an operating current of 350 mA and a rated wattage of 1.2 W. They are equipped with Golden Dragon LEDs developed by Osram Opto Semiconductors. These high-power LEDs form the basis for an initial series of LED modules with optimised power supplies operated on Optotronic control gear from Osram.
Dragontape: linear and flexible
On the Dragontape OS-DT6 module the light emitting diodes are mounted in a linear arrangement on a flexible pcb substrate. The construction enables the module to be split after any LED so from one to six light emitting diodes can be operated as required. Double-sided adhesive tape on the back makes installing the module very simple indeed. The module is available in all LED colours and provides excellent inspiration for designing new luminaires. Individual light emitting diodes can also be easily separated ready for installation.
Dragonpuck with highly efficient optics
The Dragonpuck module is equipped with three LEDs and a highly efficient optical system. It has a diameter of 35 mm and an overall height of 12 mm. The module is also for luminaires in which long life is particularly desirable. It is also perfect for applications with tightly focused LED light, such as reading lights, luminaires for illuminating facades and machine luminaires.
Dragoneye: the Eye of the Dragon
The Dragoneye module features a high-flux light emitting diode complete with a lens. Housed in an IP65 enclosure, the LED module is particularly suitable as a luminaire head or as the light source in luminaires designed for tough ambient conditions. The Dragoneye module has a threaded pin on its underside for easy mounting.
Optimum operation guaranteed
The Dragontape, Dragonpuck and Dragoneye modules achieve optimum performance in conjunction specially matched Optotronic OT 9/220-240/350 and OT 9/10-24/350 DIM control gear. Both are designed to operate with a constant current of 350 mA. The units have compact dimensions to match the small size of the modules. OT 9/220-240/350 is suitable for operating on mains voltage. Dimmable electronic control gear OT 9/10-24/350 DIM can be used to integrate the modules of the Dragon family in DC supply systems, for example on yachts, in mobile homes or in solar luminaires, or to combine them with light emitting diodes from the standard Osram range such as Linearlight.
The new LED modules will be available from June.
