Lamps with high efficiency (HE) are designed for maximal economy, in other words for maximum luminous flux (in lumen, lm) from the lamp output (in watts, W). Irrespective of their wattage all the lamps in this series have the same luminance.
Fluorescent lamps with a diameter of 16 mm are operated exclusively with ECGs. They are being used more and more as alternatives to 26 mm lamps, not least because their luminous efficacy is higher and they last longer. ECGs also improve the comfort aspects of lighting. The lamps start quickly, silently and without flickering, the light is constant and calm with no electrode flickering, and faulty lamps are automatically shut down.
T5 lamps enable extremely compact and slim luminaires to be designed because their volume is up to 50 % less and their length 5 cm shorter than comparable T8 lamps from OSRAM.
