Excellent outlook for environmental protection with halogen

OSRAM has set itself the goal of providing sustainable protection for the environment. We therefore look at the entire life cycle of our products – from eco-friendly design and the use of appropriate materials to eco-friendly disposal.

Halogen lamps have two positive environmental properties compared with conventional incandescent lamps: high luminous efficacy and longer life. The “halogen cycle” ensures that the vaporized tungsten is returned to the filament material, thereby increasing efficiency. Halogen lamps therefore have an enormous potential for saving energy, reducing costs and cutting down greenhouse gas emissions.

OSRAM has now further improved its economical halogen lamps and developed the OSRAM ENERGY SAVER lamps. Thanks to IRC technology these lamps offer energy savings of between 30% and 65% and corresponding cost savings. A special coating on the bulb reflects heat back to the filament. The number one among energy-saving lamps is the DECOSTAR 51 ENERGY SAVER.
