LEDOTRON is the name of the new digital standard for dimming systems designed for LED and compact fluorescent retrofit lamps. This future-proof technology can be used directly on the existing mains wiring.
The sale of incandescent lamps is in the process of being banned in a step-by-step process set out in the European Ecodesign Directive 2005/32/EC starting in Autumn 2012. Increasingly taking their place will be energy-efficient LED lamps and energy-saving lamps.
The disadvantages: A perfect dimming cannot be guaranteed.
The solution: LEDOTRON.
For this reason, the leading electrical brands Gira, Jung, Merten, Schneider Electric, Radium and OSRAM have agreed to develop an open and future-proof dimming standard conforming to the standards: LEDOTRON.
It was on the basis of this standard that the IEC 62756-1 requirement was drawn up.

The following LED lamps and compact fluorescent lamps of OSRAM have already been developed in accordance with the principles of LEDOTRON – they are all compatible with the LEDOTRON controllers supplied by our partners.
The LEDOTRON LED lamps from OSRAM are equipped with the so called "Flexible Scene Control". It describes the possibility to control multiple lamps independently from each other despite being all on the same electric circuit. Up to three groups can be built.
This function has to be supported by the lamp as well as by the control unit. A pictogram on packaging shows, if the product supports this function.
