Helpful information
The official language is Slovenian. You will often find Slovenian people speaking English, especially in the capital of Ljubljana and touristic areas.
Smoking is not permitted indoors.
Please check in online for all of your flights before going to the airport.
Health and Insurance
There are no compulsory vaccinations for travelers. It is recommended that the standard vaccinations should be checked and completed in accordance with the current vaccination calendar.
Participants are advised to obtain their own personal health, luggage or other travel insurance as desired.
Shopping
Normal shop opening times in Ljubljana are Monday to Saturday between 10:00 am and 07:00 pm, although hours can vary. Some of the smaller shops will close during the middle of the day for lunch break. Some major stores open even on Sundays, but only for some hours, e.g. from 10:00 am to 03:00 pm.
In the old town of Ljubljana, you will find known international brands next to shops offering authentic local products. While the city center has many smaller shops, the biggest shopping malls are found in the outskirts of the city.

Slovenia is on CEST, which means UTC + 2 hours. The sunrise is approx. at 05:15 am and sunset at approx. 09:00 pm. The European summer typically is warm and sunny, with temperatures between 25 and 30 degrees Celsius with occasional rain showers.
During the months of June to September, it can be pleasant to be outside even in the late evening, thanks to warm summer nights.
Voltage
Electricity in Slovenia is 230 volts; 50 Hz AC. Slovenia uses type C and F sockets (two round pins).
The hotel has a limited number of adapters, so please bring your own.
Currency
The unit of currency in Slovenia is the Euro and Cent. Money can be easily exchanged at the airport, bank and currency exchanges. All major debit and credit cards are accepted in Slovenia. ATM/Bank machines are found in most banks and many other locations throughout the city.
Population
The current population of Slovenia is 2 million, of Ljubljana approximately 290.000. Ljubljana is the capital of Slovenia and its biggest city.
Safety
In general, Ljubljana is a fairly safe place. However, it is always important to be vigilant and aware of your surroundings. Pickpocketing is the most common problem reported by tourists.
