Maritime disasters make the news headlines time and time again: Large quantities of oil leak into the sea with detrimental environmental effects. However, there are also relatively small oil slicks which are caused, for example, by the illegal flushing of oil tanks on tanker vessels. Due to heavy sea swell or poor visibility conditions, these oil slicks are difficult to track during daytime, and the search becomes even more challenging at night.
The solution: Devices equipped with special light can locate these spots in the sea – no matter whether it's day or night.
Question: Which technology even enables the detection of oil slicks during the night?
a) Special infrared cameras
b) Black light at a specific frequency
c) Location via high-resolution UV light
