Osram Opto Semiconductors makes choosing the right professional and consumer LEDs for General Lighting even easier
20.03.2018 | Spotlight
Osram Opto Semiconductors has been synonymous for many years with not only sensor and laser technologies but also with high-quality LED components for many end markets. This portfolio includes LEDs for General Lighting that are in use worldwide in both professional and consumer sectors. Osram Opto Semiconductors’ latest LED innovations can be seen at this year’s Light + Building.
The company’s general lighting product portfolio is split into two specific lines, consumer and professional. This new product line structure makes it even easier for customers to select the most appropriate solutions for their specific applications.
Requirements for professional product applications include high performance and long lifetime, usually targeting commercial and industrial applications where the total cost of ownership and return on investment are very important to customers and end-users. Energy efficiency, maintenance, and productivity savings are key drivers in these applications. The key requirements include very high reliability as well as a long lifetime of at least 50,000 hours. Products also have to be robust, and resistant to high temperature fluctuations and environmental influences. The current professional products include the Osconiq, Oslon, and Soleriq families.
Requirements for consumer product applications are more optimized for the best possible performance/price ratio. As these LEDs are mainly intended for residential use, they do not typically require the same performance standards as LEDs for long lifetime commercial and industrial applications. The Duris family is renowned for its fit to consumer applications.
