Yazaki selected Osram Opto Semiconductors from around 100 companies for the Environmental, Health & Safety Award 2017 (EHS). The Overall EHS Award also went to the high-tech company in recognition of its impressive successes.
The two new awards add to the Green Supplier of the Year Award that Yazaki presented to Osram Opto Semiconductors back in 2013 for its significant contribution to environmental protection.
Under its EHS guidelines, Osram Opto Semiconductors is committed, among other things, to create a safe and pleasant working environment for its employees. A strong long-term requirement is to ensure that processes are as eco-friendly as possible and that products are as efficient as possible.
“The health and safety of our employees and the sustainable and responsible use of resources are part of our corporate culture. As a consequence, we are firmly committed to further developing our products and processes to minimize the risks”, said Jascha Ortmanns, COO at Osram Opto Semiconductors.
Held to honor World Environmental Day, the Yazaki Environmental, Health & Safety Supplier Award program recognizes suppliers who have made significant contributions to the preservation of the environment through their manufacturing, production, and delivery processes and have exceeded others in their effort to reduce their impact on the environment. Yazaki established this program in 2007 as the benchmark for all Yazaki companies and affiliates throughout North and Central America.
Yazaki’s commitment to the environment spans the globe as the Company’s global business segments all aim to support safe and eco-friendly practices. Aside from automotive products, Yazaki produces equipment that support the efficient use of electricity, gas, solar heat, and other energy sources, as well as environmentally-friendly air-conditioning units and additional products and services aimed at reducing environmental impact to local communities.
