OSRAM exhibition highlight: HMI lamps for TV and film productions
At the cinec 2012 exhibition OSRAM will present their prize-winning HMI discharge lamps. For more than 30 years these special lamps have been fulfilling the highest requirements in the film and TV industries. The technology has received several awards and is today an integral part of the film set all over the world - from Hollywood to Bollywood.
Extreme reliability - even when lighting the wreck of the "Titanic"
Having a power of up to 24,000 Watts, the HMI lamps transform night into day on the film set. Thanks to their continuous improvement process, they have made film history on several occasions. For example, lighting the wreck for the 1990 IMAX film "Titanic". The OSRAM XS technology ensures that the HMI lamps show their real strength, particularly when important and complex outdoor filming is involved.
Extremely tough: the DXS series
All HMI lamps, with bases at both ends, by OSRAM, are equipped with our innovative eXtreme seal technology. This permits temperatures up to 450° Celsius in the thermally sensitive base area. These lamps are characterized by the abbreviation DXS (Double-ended XS technology). All the lamps in the HMI Director Range by OSRAM are equipped with this technology.
OSRAM has developed an illuminant for the new ARRI film set lamp "M90/60" from the prize-winning Arrimax/M range that radiates especially large amounts of light in the smallest area. The ARRI luminaire facilitates a new lighting class of 9,000 Watts that has not so far been available in film set luminaires. The halogen metal halide lamp "HMI 9000W/SE" by OSRAM ensures powerful light and makes its debut in this application. The luminaire ensures optimum illumination of film sets without having a negative effect on the production as a result of awkward sizing problems.
