Hotel and restaurant lighting
Service in the right light
Hotels often used to welcome their guests with the same uniform lighting at reception. Restaurants too often seem to have chosen their lighting from the same menu, and most bars offered a cocktail of only a few lighting ingredients. Brilliant energy-saving halogen lamps are now a much better option. Everything can be presented in the best light – from stylish reception areas to cosy bedrooms.
Foyer
The reception desk and foyer have to be highlighted because they are generally the first places that guests and visitors see. The individual zones need to be distinguished with different light – different contrast, light and shadow, and vertical lighting components as panels or lines.
The lighting gives structure to entrance areas and separates walkways from relaxation zones. Recessed ceiling downlights with HALOSPOT 111 ENERGY SAVER lamps offer brilliant glare-free light for porches and revolving doors, with cost savings of up to 65% compared with conventional halogen lamps. The effect is rounded off by splendid chandeliers equipped with attractive line voltage HALOGEN ENERGY SAVER CLASSIC B or HALOLUX CF/HC halogen candle lamps. Seating arrangements and lounge areas are given a touch of flair with bright but efficient HALOGEN ENERGY SAVER CLASSIC A lamps that provide the necessary background lighting from ceiling downlights.

Conference rooms
A modern lighting control system gives enormous flexibility in professional conference rooms so the lighting can be adjusted for specific tasks. Various light colors, different types of luminaire and direct and indirect light in different combinations mean the lighting system can cover a wide range of situations.
The basic lighting in conference rooms is complemented by indirect wall luminaires equipped with slim HALOLINE line voltage halogen lamps. Centrally located recessed ceiling luminaires with DECOSTAR ENERGY SAVER lamps from OSRAM in a linear arrangement are suitable for direct lighting for concentrated work. Dimmable DECOSTAR ENERGY SAVER lamps in spotlights for power rail mounting offer brilliant and economical lighting, ideal for product presentations, flipchart lighting and lectern lighting.

Hotel rooms
The guestrooms should radiate atmosphere and comfort. Good hotel room lighting should be glare-free and cast little shadow. Ideally, guests should be able to adjust the lighting to suit their needs. MINISTAR lamps from OSRAM, which combine a miniature reflector lamp and extremely compact control gear, perform brilliantly as miniature reading lights – subtle yet effective. Recessed ceiling downlights with DECOSTAR ENERGY SAVER lamps provide bright light for working at tables. These lamps also produce concentrated light, contrast on the walls and bright in front of mirrors. HALOSTAR ENERGY SAVER lamps from OSRAM are also suitable for mirror lighting.

Restaurants and bars
The two essential ingredients for perfect restaurant lighting are atmosphere and zoning. Overall, the lighting should be subtle but walkways, service zones and such areas should be more brightly lit. Tables and other seating areas call for a relaxing atmosphere. The light should be bright enough for food and drink to be seen in their best light, but subdued enough to create a sense of privacy.
With their brilliant white halogen light, HALOPAR lamps provide an unmistakable boost. Niches, alcoves, projections and recesses in walls and ceilings can be given greater prominence with HALOSPOT lamps.
Lighting at restaurant tables should be down from the ceiling, completely glare-free and dimmed. DECOSTAR 51 ALU or HALOGEN ENERGY SAVER SPOT R50/63 lamps provide directional light for particularly appetising presentation of food, drink and decorative accessories.
