Children’s room lighting – growing with them
Lighting in children’s rooms has to be one thing above all else: flexible. Every year our children change, and their rooms change with them. The early years are defined by sleep and play, and as children get older they need to read, to do their homework, to meet with friends and perhaps even use their rooms as a home cinema or music studio.
Perfect children’s room lighting grows as their demands grow. Indirect glare-free light creates a pleasant atmosphere that calms babies and young children down, helping them to get to sleep. Later on, fresh background lighting will help them concentrate on their schoolwork. Mobile light sources take light where it is needed when teenagers start turning their rooms into mini-apartments.
And just like children’s moods can change from day to day and year to year, the lighting can be used to express a wide range of moods – with fixtures integrated in furniture or free-standing lights in different colors and pleasant white tones.

Halogen lamps
Ceiling lighting in children’s rooms has to light up the dark instantly and also be adjustable to suit the changing moods of children. OSRAM halogen lamps meet these requirements without compromise. They produce instant 100 % light, provide high-quality light thanks to their excellent color rendering and are perfect at delivering brilliant accent light. Halogen lamps are also dimmable and always create the right atmosphere.
Compact fluorescent lamps
Ceiling lighting in children’s rooms should not only be atmospheric it should also be energy-efficient. Compact fluorescent lamps from OSRAM offer energy savings of up to 80 % compared with conventional incandescent lamps. Their light is therefore highly efficient and cost-effective. A special light color, OSRAM Warm Comfort Light, will create the right mood. Lamps with this light color are the first energy-saving lamps with a color temperature of 2500 K, producing a warm and comfortable light similar to that from an incandescent lamp.
