Greater productivity and luminous efficacy with nanotechnology - Issue 01/2014

By making use of nanotechnology, OSRAM hopes to produce significantly more LED chips with its existing production plant. OSRAM researchers have for the first time succeeded in manufacturing a so-called "3D nano LED" for white light.

Sistine Chapel with new lighting from OSRAM

New light for the Sistine Chapel - Issue 03/2013

From 2014, the 450th anniversary of the death of Michelangelo, LED light will be illuminating the artist's masterpiece "The Creation of Adam" as well as other works accommodated by the Sistine Chapel. Lighting experts from the company of OSRAM developed a sophisticated LED lighting concept. The technical basis: the worldwide unique LED lighting used in the reopened Lenbachhaus art museum in Munich, Germany

Light alleviates pain in the Zentrum für Interdisziplinäre Schmerztherapie (Center for Interdisciplinary Pain Therapy or ZIS) at the Munich clinic Klinikum rechts der Isar.

Light alleviates pain - Issue 02/2013

Biologically effective light for pain therapy - the Zentrum für Interdisziplinäre Schmerztherapie (Center for Interdisciplinary Pain Therapy or ZIS) at the Munich clinic "Klinikum rechts der Isar" is the first pain center worldwide to include this new method in its therapy program. The new lighting solution was designed by OSRAM in a way that makes it affordable for other pain centers, clinics and doctors' practices, too.

The best artificial light for art

The best artificial light for art - Issue 01/2013

Lighting solutions for museums are a fine art in themselves, and should not only display exhibition objects optimally but also simultaneously protect the works from damage. At OSRAM, engineers and scientists from various sectors have got together in order to implement the conceptual ideas of architects and planners in the best possible way with a technical product concept.

Lamps straight out of the printer - Issue 2/2012

Luminous OLED 'glass panels' currently approach industrialisation maturity. OSRAM is researching a further innovation that has the capability of transforming the world of lighting: luminous foils based on light-emitting cells, produced as part of a printing process. This technology could in the mid-term enable the production of wide-area luminaires at very low costs.

OSRAM brings sunlight into offices - Issue 01/2012

Naturally existing light is usually not enough for sufficient lighting levels in offices. It's for this reason that supplementary artificial light needs to be used, and up until now this was via classic lamps that illuminated across the day with the same intensity and colour temperature. OSRAM researchers with a new form of light control now want to contribute to office lighting being oriented in the future more towards outside lighting conditions.
