Control your LIGHTIFY system with Amazon Alexa
- An internet connection via a wireless router
- A LIGHTIFY system (LIGHTIFY App, Gateway + Devices) with the latest update
- An Alexa-enabled device and the Amazon Alexa App
1. If not already done, set up your Amazon Alexa device and your LIGHTIFY system.
2. Open the Amazon Alexa App
3. Open the menu and select “Skills” from the SettingsTab. Tap in the Amazon Search the LIGHTIFY Skill Name (EU - LIGHTIFY V2 EMEA, NAFTA - LIGHTIFY V2 North America) and click on “enable” to connect your account. Now you need to confirm your LIGHTIFY account data by pressing “Log In” and “Approve”.
4. You can synchronize and discover your devices and scenes: Open the menu, select “Smart Home”, and tap on “Devices” to “Add Devices” or “Scenes” to “Discover Scenes”. All your devices and scenes will be synchronized automatically. Unfortunately, it is not possible to import groups - so for group control you need to create new groups in the Amazon Alexa App. Please make sure to use the same names as in your LIGHTIFY App.
Power on and off:
"Alexa, turn on my [device name]"
"Alexa, turn off my [device name]"
"Alexa, set my [device name] to green"
"Alexa, set the [group name] to 50 percent"
"Alexa, brighten the [group name]"
"Alexa, dim the [group name]"
"Alexa, dim the [group name] to 40 percent"
"Alexa, brighten the [group name] to 80 percent"
"Alexa, turn on [scene name]."
"Alexa, turn on [scene name] in [group name]"
If you have multiple devices with the same name, please award different keywords. Alexa cannot distinguish which device is to be controlled. You can change the names easily in the LIGHTIFY App and synchronize your devices again in the Amazon Alexa App.
Please go to "Smart Home" in your Amazon Alexa App and add your "Devices" to "Add devices". This will take a few minutes, afterwards you can control the devices via Alexa.
You can also use the voice command "Alexa, find devices" to synchronize your devices from the LIGHTIFY App.
To add groups, open the Amazon Alexa menu and select "Smart Home" and tap on "Groups" -> "Add groups". You can now either use Amazon's default names from the list, use your LIGHTIFY Group names or give them user-defined names. Please make sure you give groups a recognizable name so Alexa can identify them. Also use group names with only a few syllables and give each group a different name.
In the last step “Define Group” select the products you want to associate with the group and click on “Save”.
Instructions: Create Groups
First, create your desired scenes in your LIGHTIFY app. In the next step, open your Amazon Alexa App Menu and tap on "Smart Home" open "Scenes" -> "Discover Scenes". Your scenes are automatically synchronized from your LIGHTIFY account.
If you use the Amazon Echo and want to connect it with LIGHTIFY, you always need a LIGHTIFY Gateway and a commissioned LIGHTIFY system. Installed devices and configured scenes are synchronized from the LIGHTIFY System to the Alexa App. Your LIGHTIFY groups have to be added manually in the Alexa App. In addition, you have the following functions: On / Off, dimming and color change.
If you use Amazon Echo Plus, you do not need an additional LIGHTIFY gateway, but you also have the option to use the LIGHTIFY Skill (in combination with a fully commissioned LIGHTIFY system). The devices can be also directly connected to your Echo Plus via Zigbee even without a gateway or skill. The following functions are then available: On / Off, dimming, color change and light temperature. The lamps from the LEDVANCE portfolio Smart+ can be used here.

Alexa voice control
To ensure that your voice commands are perfectly executed by Alexa, it is important that you give your products a real name in your LIGHTIFY app. For example, change "A60 RGBW" to "kitchen light".
The names will be transferred automatically to your Amazon app when you add the devices for the first time – if you change the names in the LIGHTIFY App at a later point – you can synchronize them again by opening the Amazon Alexa App menu, selecting “Smart Home”, and tapping on “Devices” to “Add Devices” – this will then update the device names in the Amazon Alexa App.
You can also synchronize your product names via the voice command “Alexa, find devices”
