Incandescent lamps count as so-called temperature emitters. The coil, consisting of tungsten wire is brought to glow through an electrical current and thus will gleam. During this form of light activation only about 5 percent of the invested energy is converted to light. The rest is lost as warmth.
Incandescent lamps are dimmable without restrictions and possess a life duration of about 1000 hours. This corresponds to 1 year at the typical burning rate of 2 hours/day in a private household.
