LIGHT on site - a forum for lighting experts

Light infuses life into buildings. Used intelligently, it conveys the spirit of a place, cleverly evoking everything from the warm, relaxing atmosphere of a spa resort to the cool, radiant energy of a sports arena. Good lighting is an essential success factor in architecture, and it is important for professionals in this field to exchange ideas and experience.

"LIGHT on site", initiated by OSRAM in cooperation with the Professional Lighting Designers´ Association (PLDA) has been set up to create a forum for lighting experts. At exclusive annual events around the world, leading architects and lighting designers will be invited to participate and share their knowledge.

To provide an inspiring environment for these discussions, the events are to be hosted in prominent buildings which demonstrate how light and architecture interact in an outstanding way. Renowned speakers will give presentations on visionary architectural and lighting designs, and address the various aspects of their implementation.

The first "LIGHT on site" event has been organised in Copenhagen from February 14-15, 2008. Our two-day event in Copenhagen had two exciting venues; the first day was at the city´s fascinating New Opera House, the second at the IT University/Concert Hall Ørestad Nord.

Le Corbusier´s words provide an appropriate introduction to this first "LIGHT on site" event in the New Opera House in Copenhagen, since this imposing landmark on Holman Island impressively demonstrates the effect of light on architecture.
