LINEARlight LED modules from OSRAM:
Time for light in the Copenhagen metro
REGENSBURG - The Copenhagen metro is currently being expanded with 15 new stations with architecture that is contemporary, functional and stylish. The metro stations are each equipped with specially designed station clocks that feature prominently in the new architecture.
"The aim was to create an effect of lightness and elegance with unusual lighting for the clocks", says Jörn Brinkmann of OSRAM Denmark, adding: "The architects and designers were enthusiastic when they saw how versatile the white LINEARlight LED modules could be." The LEDs appear as small dots of light around the perimeter of the clock, giving it a graceful look. The perimeter lights make the clocks easy to recognise and easy to read. The voltage for the LEDs has been reduced to 7.2 V so they are not so bright they dazzle onlookers. "The clocks really are eye-catching, and not just because they tell the right time", says Brinkmann.
15 new stations on the Copenhagen metro will each be equipped with two large clocks that will not only tell the right time but also act as important elements in the overall design. Versatile LINEARlight LED modules from OSRAM create small dots of light around the perimeter of the clocks and make them easier to read.
