OSRAM at Prolight + Sound 2007

Focus on innovation and modularity

From 28th to 31st March, OSRAM will be presenting new lighting products for the entertainment industry at the world’s leading trade fair for this industry, Prolight + Sound in Frankfurt. The Munich based company will be focusing on high-performance light sources, innovation, modularity and ease of handling.

Hall 9 at the fair will host theatre, stage, studio and associated lighting technologies. The OSRAM stand can be found on Level 0, Aisle B, Stand 46. One of the main products featured by OSRAM at the fair is Lok-it!, a new type of base/holder system for high-pressure discharge and halogen lamps. Thanks to the perfect combination of base and holder, lamps can be changed with one hand and without any tools. The lamp just has to be inserted and given a quarter turn. Nothing could be simpler. The lamp then sits securely in the holder and is accurately aligned.

Low weight is a key characteristic of the latest addition to the aluPAR family of lamps. The lightweight aluPAR 64 with its precise aluminum reflector is now available for studio, theatre and event applications. Not only do they weigh up to 50 percent less than lamps with glass reflectors but they are also up to ten percent brighter because the halogen burner and the reflector contour are ideally suited. In the aluPAR family of lamps the aluminum reflector and the front shield are mechanically connected to one another, this is so the lamps can be separated into their individual components at the end of their lives to enable environmentally friendly disposal. These product characteristics helped the aluPAR 56 win the PLASA Innovation Award 2005.

The 93723 high-output halogen lamp, rated at 1,200 W and 80 V, is a powerful and highly focused unit. Its brightness is equivalent to that of a 2,500 W halogen lamp. Thanks to its robust construction, with G22 base, it will fit in various lighting units from lens spotlights to multifunctional units such as moving head types.

Unbeatable power
At 1,500 W the new SharXS HTI 1500W/D7/60 from OSRAM is undisputedly the most powerful member of the SharXS HTI family. Short-arc technology makes this SharXS a particularly efficient lamp with high luminous efficacy. For noise-sensitive applications such as theatre productions, musical and sound recordings the lamp can be dimmed to 1,000 W with appropriate control gear. This means that the fan speed can be reduced to a mere whisper. The full 1,500 W however is ideal for rock concerts, clubs and discos. As with all the lamps in the SharXS family, eXtreme Seal technology gives the lamp greater thermal resistance, which in turn reduces the need for cooling and allows manufacturers to design more compact luminaires. At 6,000 K the light is close to natural daylight and has a high color rendering index of over 90. The average life of the lamp is 750 hours when operated at 1,200 to 1,500 W. Thanks to its uniform dimensions it will fit in standard OSRAM SharXS prefocus holders. This holder system ensures excellent mechanical and electrical contact and reliable positioning of the light source. The modular concept of this family of lamps makes it easier for manufacturers to develop new luminaires, thereby reducing time to market. The double-ended design of the lamps allows compact luminaires to be produced and improves thermal control.

OSRAM at Prolight + Sound 2007
Focus on innovation and modularity
Powerful light sources, innovation, modularity and ease of handling are the key elements of OSRAM’s presence at this year’s Prolight + Sound. The SharXS HTI 1500W/D7/60, the most powerful lamp in the SharXS-HTI family at 1,500 W, is an excellent example.
