Christ the Redeemer Monument in Rio de Janeiro illuminated in black-red-gold

Just in time for German Unity Day on 03 Octobre the world-famous Christ the Redeemer monument in Rio de Janeiro was illuminated in Germany’s national colors of black, red and gold. A preparation for the “Year of Germany” in Brazil which will start in May 2013. The statue has already been illuminating with efficient LED projectors from OSRAM´s subsidiary Traxon since March 2011.

In March last year OSRAM provided the world-famous statue of Christ with an ultra-modern lighting system. 300 advanced LED projectors from OSRAM´s subsidiary Traxon Technologies were installed on the monument and in the immediate vicinity. Since then, the landmark of Rio de Janeiro lights in different colours. The high-output and efficient LED spots permit particularly precise spotlighting in alternating colors and different light qualities. The innovative system also has a special control system known as the "Lighting Control Engine. With this system every single LED projector can be individually aimed and adjusted in terms of colour and light intensity.

The upcoming "Year of Germany" in Brazil is intended to deepen and widen the German-Brazilian relations.  The motto of the year is “Germany and Brazil – when ideas come together”.
